Netherlands
I spent five days and four nights in the Netherlands. I originally thought my impression of the Netherlands would be limited to bicycles, canals, windmills, and tulips, but after actually visiting, I discovered that the atmosphere in each place was quite different. Amsterdam was more vibrant than I imagined. During the day, you can stroll leisurely through the city, drink coffee, and watch the canals, while at night you can wander through the red-light district and experience the city's freer, more open, and somewhat psychedelic side.
During this trip, I also visited Giethoorn, a village that resembles a fairytale town. Taking a boat ride through its tranquil waterways and admiring the adorable little houses was perfect for slowing down, taking photos, and strolling around. Utrecht, on the other hand, felt very comfortable and had a strong student city vibe. It wasn't as touristy as Amsterdam, but this allowed me to better experience the everyday life of the Netherlands. The windmill village is a classic Dutch landmark; the wooden shoes, windmills, and riverside cottages are all very picturesque and make for a great half-day trip.
This page will document my five-day, four-night trip to the Netherlands, including attractions, food, and some practical travel tips. It will cover which places are worth visiting, which are great for taking photos, how to arrange transportation, and some restaurants that I found delicious or memorable. I hope this will be helpful for those planning a self-guided trip to the Netherlands, and that when planning your itinerary, you'll go beyond simply checking off tourist spots and truly experience the lovely and unique charm of the Netherlands.
